Other Help Other Ways Lawyers Can Help Volunteering isn’t just about providing direct legal services. There are other ways to support the Volunteer Lawyers Project. Mentor new lawyers seeking assistance with pro bono/reduced fee cases or answering legal questions online. Provide guidance without direct case responsibility. Give a CLE presentation on substantive areas in VLP programs: bankruptcy, consumer debt, small claims, divorce, child custody, child support, modification of orders, tenant issues. Create short video clips for self-represented individuals (e.g., filing a small claim, using self-help forms for uncontested divorce). Help with volunteer recruiting by making calls or sending emails to colleagues. Contact Laurie Heer Dale at (402) 742-8133 or [email protected] to discuss ways you can provide volunteer services to VLP and VLP programs.
